Just in front of the removable front sight is a small latch on the RIS unit. Once this latch has been opened, the entire outer barrel/RIS assembly can be slid off of the front of the gun, allowing the user to tuck the battery inside of the RIS unit. This means no more worrying about a bulky PEQ box or having to rewire the gun to the rear for easy battery placement.
